Observed: (4.0 Goldfield Nevada March 13) then (4.3 Searles Valley California March 23) then (4.9 Anza California April 4). The energy has followed a mostly strait path south eastward. But the Anza quake double stepped time and location so an in-fill quake should occur near Homestead Valley California. Since It still appears there is eastward pressure from the Pacific plate and Homestead Valley has not had a major quake since 1992 (7.3 magnitude earthquake Yucca Valley, California) and that occurred on a right-lateral strike-slip fault but the energy lifted or pushed up the ground on the east side of the fault 3 meters with only 10cm of southward slip. My feeling is it will again be a push, not a slip, even though the Anza quake was a slip. My feeling is also it will be near the Homestead Valley Fault intersection with the Kickapoo Fault. I can’t determine if it will be smaller or larger in magnitude, so I am adding an extra .4 to the top end. And usual late start date…sleepy snoring grandpa California. LOL

    Forecast: M 4.5 to 5.9 2020-04-10 to 2020-04-17 34°16’41.62″N 116°24’16.89″W 160km/100mls radius

Notes: I also looked closely at the Pahrump Nevada area the Garlock Fault. Garlock is certainly primed and ready but I think we will see a 5ish magnitude west of the westend where it intersects with the San Andreas Fault as a prelude or for-shock first.

Observed: Along with the initial observation above, now add today’s M 4.1 – 16km WSW of Toms Place, CA 2020-04-05 19:20:46 (UTC) 37.527°N 118.853°W 7.8 km depth.

Conclusion: My forecast area might be too far SSE by 200km/120mls. But a 4.1 is on the low side to make me move my forecast center point. No changes to forecast at this time.
