A small swarm of eleven quakes M1.0 to M2.4 have struck in a single location 6km/3.5mls east from the edge of the city and 16km/10mls from down town San Jose during the past 24 hours. The location is a secondary fault system, not the San Andreas Fault.

    The largest observed so far:

    M 2.4 – 11km ESE of Alum Rock, CA 2020-05-23 00:37:43 (UTC) 37.344°N 121.705°W 7.8 km depth

I am watching to see if this is foreshock activity to a larger event. My forecasting system does not show potential larger activity for the San Jose area, but does continue to show North Bay Area in the Napa area for potential activity. So I’m just watching San Jose for now.

    Up to thirteen quakes.

Something big is about to happen according to the massive swarm at the Geysers in Sonoma County. I have never seen so many quakes in a seven day period. Generally that means energy was released on the Juan de Fuca. When they go quiet that means something will go off 1.5 magnitudes above the most recent strongest quake at the Geysers. But now, I don’t know what it means. Also I am aware I am a bit “unsettled” because all I see are multiple swarms and six weeks of larger quakes all occurring in a 6 to 7 week period. It just looks scary.

Right now, in my humble opinion, it is beginning to look like the wave of larger seismic energy might have passed through North America. We need two more days of lower seismic activity.
