M5.3 – 91km SSE of Palaiochora, Greece 2017-07-31 21:29:11 UTC at a depth of 16.6 km.
This is just an example on how earthquakes can be detected prior to the event utilizing radio emission data from local observatories.
Data Source: ROMAGNA ELF ULF MONITORING STATION-ITALY:

Related data sources:The LTPA Observer Project: http://www.ltpaobserverproject.com/
IK1QFK, Renato Romero Home Page – Exploring ULF-ELF and VLF radio band: http://www.vlf.it/This image contains anomalies detected several hours prior to today’s M5.3 Greece, there were no lightning storms and the kp was at a low during the time frame so these can be eliminated as sources of disturbance or interference. It is very likely these events are related. Magnetic pulsations were detected several hours beforehand and pre-seismic signatures in the ULF range at the observation station located in Romanga, Italy. Also I marked the approx. time of seismic event on the timeline:

As reported by the LTPA Observer Project.
