    Observed: M 7.0 – 114 km NNW of Popondetta, Papua New Guinea 2020-07-17 02:50:23 (UTC) 7.843°S 147.766°E 79.8 km depth USGS

I gave it a review and no not see anything to make this one look related to other quakes or unusual in any way…except none of use were watching this area. Another unexpected quake? Dutch did his report and says this was a significant quake. Size does not always determine other aspects of it. I do agree with Dutch that we should watch other quakes move out and away from this event on the plate boundaries, stepping down 1 magnitude with each further occurrence. So we should see 6.0 activity near the Island of Timor-Leste ( 9°16’39.90″S 125°11’53.16″E ) in 5 to 10 days. My method shows it should strike at the eastern tip of the island. but again I don’t know this area.

I will be back on Quake Watch more regularly starting next week. I have some fun correlating quakes to my 2020-07-01 ring hypothesis/watch: https://quakewatch.net/forums/topic/very-important-quake-not-my-area-sabah-malaysia-2020-06-30-ring-therory/#post-9158

And this 7.0 is not related my ring idea.
