Happened again…Earthquakes in Chile, slowly migrating southward along the coast, then a sudden jump to an 5 pointer just east of the tip of South America. I do think there is something to this pattern.

Well, appears that that low pressure zone at the base of South America is migrating northward, so its a good thing I didn’t officially forecast an earthquake…but I will be watching that pattern.

OMG! Did you notice how there have been a “marching” of earthquakes down the coast of South America from the Blot Echo site, and the site of the Chilean earthquake towards the tip of South America towards the low pressure zone at the bottom of the continent?? If I weren’t so unsure of myself, I would forecast an earthquake in the M4-6 range at 25-35 km in the next 2-4 days at the bottom, or tip of South America, or perhaps just south of it, in the ocean between Antarctica and the tip of South America. That will be my trial run test prediction based on the chain of earthquakes migrating south from the Chilean Blot Echo….

Hi Fred, and Ben, and Hook, and All..been following S0 for about the same amount of time as you Fred, and have been watching this evolve as well. Need to finish reading more on prediction tools and tricks, but, realized how much I had absorbed when I watched the Earthquake prediction video from OTF, with a new recruit to the channel, and found myself explaining basics to him, simple things that have become second nature being exposed to the channel for so long. Hoping to contribute to the efforts to forecast predictably as I learn the tools more thoroughly.
Was wondering if there was a need for someone to go back in history and check for the presence of predictive factors, such as sunspots, Kp values, Blot Echos, migration patterns, chains, etc for past large quakes. It appears much of that has been done, (or you wouldn’t have all these nifty tricks to look out for!) but let me know if there is a need for any efforts directed backwards in time, too.
Looking forward to this exciting journey with fellow S0s.

Well, I just counted 41 quakes in the last 8 hours in the Valparaíso region of Chile, near your first two earthquakes above…most M4-6, and all pretty shallow (25 to 35 km)..and there is a rather ominous looking low pressure region along the tip of South America presently…so will watch to see if anything pops in that area in the next few days…
