Counselor,
Here’s something that you will either find mildly amusing, or sympathetic towards my forecasting efforts. I noted two times relating to Chile in the previous post (as you have seen). Well I did the same thing on October 21st, found two ACE contacts at 09:21 UTC and 10:31 UTC. These times correlated with Sunset / Dusk on 127.340’E – 3.530’S Pulau Buru, Indonesia… I assume you saw this forecast, titled Indonesia ?.After I finished my post to you, I went back to checking today’s contact signals, and found a 10:32 UTC contact. This again matched Dusk in Pulau Buru, so I renewed said forecast at 14:15 UTC… I assume you have also seen this too ?
At 17:12 UTC, a 5.7 occurred in Central Peru… here’s the catch in my usual format…
Sunset on 127.340’E – 3.530’S Pulau Buru, Indonesia … 09:21 UTC, Oct 21
Dawn on 74.693’W – 10.736’S Satipo, Central Peru (5.7 epicentre) … 09:21 UTC, Oct 21Dusk on ,,,,,,,, – ,,,,,,,, Pulau Buru, Indonesia … 10:31 UTC, Oct 21
Sunrise on ,,,,,,, – ,,,,,,,, Satipo, Central Peru … 10:31 UTC, Oct 21Dusk on ,,,,,,, – ,,,,,,,, Pulau Buru, Indonesia … 10:32 UTC, Oct 30
Sunrise on ,,,,,,, – ,,,,, Satipo, Central Puru … 10:32 UTC, Oct 30I know I’m on the right train… I just keep getting off at the wrong stop !. If more people got on board, I’m sure it would be an easy enough process to figure out which were the “right stops”. I encourage all, to test this data using timeanddate.com and suncalc.net … If anybody believes I am randomly selecting locations, to forecast for their entertainment value… they are very much mistaken !
BTW – Solar Noon on the 5.7 epicentre in Peru, occurred yesterday (29th) at 16:44 UTC… this time matches one of your T&D images !

Yes, these forecasts sure do mount up don’t they 😉 … if you have been monitoring me, then statistically speaking you will know I have hit more than I have missed, but the mags are not making the grade at the moment! Sometimes you have to take the opportunity if it arises e.g. Two significant signals in the ACE MAG data today at 07:56 UTC – 09:43 UTC. Using my method, these times correlate to Dawn / Sunrise on 72.430’W – 40.970’S Puerto Montt, Chile… normally I would forecast 5.5+ for this region, after all it is Chile. But likely as not it will be a 4+ and I will miss out again if I post a forecast accordingly!. Lets keep an eye on this location and see what happens 🙂I believe the “Franz Josef Land” events caught everybody by surprise, but here’s the interesting part. The Franz Josef epicentres have been in constant daylight since 13th February, the first true night contact after this long period occurred on 28th October !!. I made comment with my Pacific Antarctic Ridge forecast about a possible spectral frequency change instigating a seismic event… a shock to the system so to speak. I was addressing my chosen location on Southern latitudes… no reason why this doesn’t work in the North too !
I reviewed the data in your other thread, and believe it has potential to be a sound hypothesis. The idea of TEC / Moon Terminator interactions is not to dissimilar to what I have described above. The approaching threshold will have longer visible frequencies, energy output will be different to that which is within the moon’s proximity… Hook probably has a better idea how interactions may be possible.
You will have to see if you can find a similar occurrence again to confirm the interaction occurs at distance, because the down side is the terminators distance to target i.e. Dominican Republic. Current statistics suggest this hypothesis is in your favour, the last event in the Dominican Republic of similar magnitude, occurred on April 3rd… this was also a 4.8 magnitude event.Whatever the outcome… well spotted 🙂

To be honest, I’m not sure why one publishes and one does not… but I know from asking this question myself some years back, that the USGS runs a skeleton crew at weekends. You may notice event data appears much later than EMSC at weekend, but during the week they are pretty much even timed… being short staffed may equate to the occasional human error perhaps!Sorry to see you missed on the Philippines… I was there too, good to see we both worked the data to the same conclusion. Personally, I think Mexico still has it’s finger on the plasma globe, drawing energy away from other regions… all those high KP readings, and the best I got was a 4.3 in the Flores Sea 🙁
Thank you for enquiring after my well being, everything is fine… hope it’s the same with you and your family.
My condolences regarding Las Vegas… my thoughts are with you and your countrymen/woman today!

………………………………………………………………………….As I have mentioned in my last entry, an explanation for the ACE data feed terminations has been covered (“twice”), and I am accepting this, so the following is a little hypothetical maths…
On Sept 11, the data feed terminated at 22:21 UTC, and each day since this time has increased by 1 minute increments, resulting in a termination time of 22:28 UTC on Sept 18. I have no knowledge of satellite change over procedures, so I can only assume the reason for not having a set UTC point relates to the satellites orbital difference in regards Earth’s changing axis per seasonal period. However hypothetically, these times also match with Sunrise over the same period on 109.014’E – 43.246’N, which places you 8 km’s NNW of Khatanbulag in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia. On Sept 11, Solar Noon in Khatanbulag occurred at 04:41 UTC, this time also matched with Sunrise in Vasto, Central Italy. These locations shared this time bond until the 15th, and combined with the other data I had, I subsequently posted a forecast for Vasto, and after today’s event in Mexico, I can only assume the following to be coincidental…
Sunrise on 98.399’W – 18.584’N Raboso, Mexico … 12:23 UTC, Sept 19
Dusk on 109.014’E – 43.246’N Khatanbulag, Mongolia … 12:23 UTC, Sept 19
……………………………………………………………………Whilst typing this post, I have noted the ACE MAG data feed has terminated at 22;15 UTC, the pattern has changed due to the 7.1 in Mexico!. The time of 22:15 UTC is an exact match to Sunrise today on 115.110’E – 10.720’S Lombok Basin, Indonesia. The last time I matched it to Lombok was Sept 7 at 22:22 UTC… who is playing the numbers game with who ?
If a hypothetical earthquake occurs in Italy, I shall be content in just to trying for the prize money… I don’t like wasting effort !

During my 20 day space data pilgrimage, I had included multiple entries referring to Mount Vesuvius and Foveaux Strait, New Zealand. As I had mentioned before, a repeat of Pompeii is not likely due to our advanced warning systems, and Foveaux Strait does not appear to have any history of significant seismic activity. I reworked the entries and found the common denominator was on 14.700’E – 42.100’N Vasto, East Coast, Central Italy (Lester:Sept 16, 11:21 pm). Each entry relating to the above mentioned locations, also relates to Dawn / Dusk / Sunrise / Sunset in Vasto!.
I originally did the math on the satellite termination feed times… they led me to Vasto, and hence to the rework! I noted an explanation on SO news related to the ACE feed terminations being the result of ground station reassignments , I can live with this… because I no longer have to carry the consequences of this being wrong on my shoulders!

Simple triangulation using an earthquake, the earthquakes constituent terminator thresholds, and a satellite contact. The 8.1 Offshore Chiapas, Mexico event occurred at 04:49:21 UTC, the suns positional longitude at this time was 107.116’E. The magnetic field line of this longitude will have been energised or greatly influenced by the scale of the magnitude involved. However at this point, any pre-seismic influence on this longitude could include Mongolia, China, Indonesia and as far South as the Indian Antarctic Ridge.
The co-ordinates of the 8.1 event are 93.715’W – 15.068’N, the terminator threshold times for this location on Sept 8 are as follows; DAWN 10:51 UTC… SUNRISE 12:04 UTC… SUNSET 00:22 UTC… Dusk 01:34… SOLAR NOON 18:12 UTC… Cross referencing these times against thresholds on 107.116’E .longitude, and the result is Sunset on 107.116’E – 9.345’S At the base of Java Ridge, West Java Indonesia.
The ACE MAG data feed stopped for a short while yesterday, coinciding with Dawn on Cook Strait New Zealand… it re-established contact at 21:50 UTC. The data is coming from the sun, I therefore assume the data is on average 8 minutes old, adjusting the Feed stop time accordingly and the time is actually 21:42 UTC. Dawn on 107.116’E – 9.345’S at the base of Java Ridge occurs at 21:42 UTC, Sept 8.
The Idea behind the “Follow the Clues” exercise is to demonstrate how pre-seismic locations can be determined by the terminator passing over them, and displaying a contact signature in the ACE data. If I may use an analogy; if you stuck a 1″ length of Scotch tape on the hood of your car, and then removed it. In reality, your own mental state is telling you that there is a difference on the surface of your hood because you know where you applied the tape… if you asked a colleague to check your hood, they would not see any difference. After a few days of driving around in the sunshine, you yourself would not remember the exact location you applied the tape, then a rain shower occurs and the moisture is repelled at this location. The Hydrogen molecules will not interact with elements in the residual adhesion… and it gives away the point you placed the tape. If you now imagine the Earth has the same treatment in the lithosphere in multiple locations, as was done with the hood of your car. The terminator can pass over these locations without giving away their position, like it was driving on a sunshiny day. When the terminator is influenced by an increase in the solar wind, it becomes energies and therefore akin to a rain shower in the analogy. Energy’s at the pre-seismic location repel energy from the terminator threshold like a positive / negative proton reaction, and this signature is recorded mostly in the Phi data. Combining the solar wind with a CME impact for instance, and the signature is shown in multiple data’s, you have a thunder storm… add influence from a Class X 9.3 and you have a hurricane !
Another point of the exercise relates to the laws of probability. If you place multiple predictions or forecasts as I have done over the past 20 days, probability states the more regions that are covered, the more likely you are going to be able to hit a target anyway. If you can show the effort involved in determining said location… laws of probability should not apply!
To conclude with your question… what I am seeing in the data in relation to the contacts posted in this thread, will depend on how many rain showers or thunderstorms these locations are exposed to over the coming days. Java was hit by a hurricane related to the 8.1 in Mexico, if something occurs within 250 radial kilometres of the stated co-ordinates in the next 20 days, then may be we can talk more!
If you try the analogy on your car… don’t forget to shampoo it after 🙂
